This quick and savory Tuna Puttanesca combines sautéed tuna, garlic, capers, olives, and DEL MONTE Italian Style Spaghetti Sauce, tossed with spaghetti and fresh basil for a flavorful meal.

Ingredients

  • 1/4 cup Contadina Extra Virgin Olive Oil
  • 2 Tbsp garlic
  • 2 can tuna flakes in oil, spicy (184g)
  • 1 pouch DEL MONTE Italian Style Spaghetti Sauce (500g)
  • 1/4 cup capers
  • 1/4 cup black olives, pitted
  • 2 Tbsp patis
  • 1/4 tsp pepper, black
  • 3/4 pack DEL MONTE Spaghetti (400g)
  • 1/4 cup basil, fresh

Procedure

1 Heat oil and sauté garlic until aromatic. Add the tuna and sauté for 2 minutes.

2 Add DEL MONTE Italian Style Spaghetti Sauce, capers, black olives, patis, and pepper. Bring to a boil and simmer for 5 minutes.

3 Toss in the cooked DEL MONTE Spaghetti and basil.

Chef's Tip

Patis is a great alternative to using anchovies for this dish. It is also more economical. The patis gives a salty, briny taste to the dish similar to the anchovy flavor.
